Ese anuncio llevó a muchos clientes a retirar sus fondos, tras lo ...Giffords meets with Parkland parents, speaks out against permitless carry state bill

Former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords joined Parkland parents during a South Florida stop as they continue ongoing efforts to help preserve steps made in gun control legislation. The former Arizona lawmaker spoke at an event held in Parkland on Saturday. The 52-year-old opened up about her daily struggles after she was shot in the head in 2012.“My recovery is a daily fight, but fighting makes me stronger,” she said. Giffords met with families who lost loved ones in the Feb. 14, 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.“We are at a crossroads. We can let the shooting continue, or we can act,” she said. The group is critical of a bill currently making its way through the Florida Legislature that, if enacted into law, would remove the requirement of a license to conceal carry a weapon.“We’re saddened to see that some of the legislatures have forgotten these lessons which are written in the blood of my daughter, her classmates and her teache...Storm watch, warning in effect ahead of nor’easter bringing snow, strong winds to Mass.

Coastal communities in Massachusetts are bracing for a nasty nor’easter set to roll into the region on Tuesday that could bring damaging winds and areas of localized flooding. In Scituate and other South Shore towns, utility crews were preparing for the worst – widespread outages and strong winds that make it impossible to make repairs. Some houses already hand sandbags on the ready on Sunday.Storm surge last year left some Scituate neighborhoods under water and required emergency evacuations. An Eversource spokesman said extra line crews are being brought in ahead of the storm and will be distributed throughout the state to where they’re likely to be the most needed.Stay with 7NEWS on-air and online for the latest weather updates.Just One Station: Mass. family raising awareness about rare disease affecting newborns

Sunday marked national day of awareness for a rare and complicated disease affecting newborn babies. And one Massachusetts family says they’re grateful their child was able to recover, thanks to the medical care they received here in Boston.Liam Shanahan had a rough go of it when he was born 16 months ago. His mom, Katie, was diagnosed with red cell Alloimmunixation and Hemolytic Disease of the Fetus and Newborn, or HDFN. It’s a rare condition where women develop antibodies against their baby’s blood type, and those antbodies attack their unborn baby’s red blood cells.“It was probably the worst time of our lives,” said Katie Shanahan “Which was so hard because it’s also supposed to be the best time of your life.”Little Liam had to undergo four blood transfusions before he was born and another four after. De. Kenneth Moise is an expect in the disease. “If that baby is the wrong blood type, different from the mother, those can...Jets linebacker Quincy Williams agrees to three-year contract: sources

A day before the NFL’s legal negotiation window, Gang Green re-signed one of their own players.According to a league source, the Jets and linebacker Quincy Williams have agreed on a three-year, $18 million contract, which could max out to $21 million in incentives. NFL Network was the first to report Williams’ deal. After two seasons with the Jaguars, the Jets claimed Williams off waivers. Since then, Williams has been one of the more steady players on the Jets defense. In 2021, he recorded 110 tackles, which was second to C.J. Mosley (158) and nine tackles for loss. Last season, Williams followed that up with 106 tackles and 12 tackles for loss.Gang Green felt like Williams was one of the keys to their defense, which finished fourth in the league in total defense and points allowed in 2022. Williams was one of two Jets starting linebackers scheduled to be free agents at the start of the league year.Kwon Alexander, who signed a one-year deal with the Jets days into trainin...Healey administration receptive on rent control

If Boston’s rent control proposal makes it through the state Legislature, it may have a good shot at being signed into law, Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll hinted on WBZ-TV’s Keller at Large segment Sunday morning — but she made no guarantees.“I definitely want to be clear that we are supporting our local communities as they come through with housing strategies and ideas,” Driscoll said. “And we also know it’s got a process to get through. We don’t know what it’s going to look like finally, so it’s hard to say 100% we’re gonna be all in.”The comments follow the Boston City Council’s passage of Mayor Michelle Wu’s rent stabilization proposal on Wednesday. The bill — which caps year-over-year rent hikes at 6% plus inflation, to a max of 10% — will face a tricky trek through the Legislature after Wu signs it.The lieutenant governor’s comments also addressed a similar proposal recently put forth ...Shamrock Splash

Who needs a clutch scorer when you have a clutch defense? For the second game in a row, the Nets’ fourth-quarter offense sputtered, and for the second game in a row, it was Brooklyn’s defense that secured the victory. The Nets held onto a 122-120 victory over Western Conference No. 1-seeded Denver Nuggets on Sunday afternoon. After losing four straight games coming out of NBA All-Star Weekend, Brooklyn has won five of its last six games. The Nets entered Sunday with the No. 1 defense in all of basketball during their winning stretch — and it took grit on that end of the floor to slow down the MVP frontrunner Nikola Jokic on the road in Denver. And it was a game that became a one-possession affair as the clock dwindled late in the fourth quarter. In Brooklyn, crunch time is the new scary hours. Those minutes — defined as the final five minutes of a game with a five-point margin — were once a safe haven for a team that previously employed Kevin Durant and Kyrie...Latest news
